The report clearly identified Ajith Naragala as the SLPP’s Kesbewa electoral organiser. The video also showed that several artistes, including Rajitha Hiran, were present at the event as attendees.
Live videos posted on January 29 by a Facebook account named “Chandanaskumara Chandana” show Rajitha Hiran participating in the opening ceremony alongside several other artistes. Another video from the same event shows attendees signing commemorative messages in a guest book, which explains the context of the image that later circulated online.
A video posted by the “Shine News 24X7” Facebook page on January 31 shows actor Rajitha Hiran publicly denying the claim. In the video, he clarified that he attended the event solely as a guest and had not been appointed to any political position.
